Trash The Dress

Here’s our Jessie starring in Reveal magazine’s big question – what did you do with your wedding dress? My answer isn’t nearly as fun as Jessie’s. I put it in a bag in the loft. Doesn’t really make for a good story does it? As for Jessie, she pulled on a pair of wellington boots and went jumping in muddy puddles with her dog. The pictures are fantastic – you can just see how much fun Jessie is having. Makes me want to dig out my wedding dress and mess it up!

This is a story of true love! Sally and Sam were busy planning their wedding day when Sam suffered from eight consecutive strokes. He was in a coma for months and every day, Sally sat by his side, reading him the football results, refusing to give up on him. She even sat by his side in hospital on what should have been their wedding day. Slowly, Sam woke up – but he wasn’t the same Sam anymore. It didn’t stop Sally loving him. Their relationship isn’t what she planned but Sally will never give up on Sam and she is busy nursing him back to good health. One day, they will marry as planned. Sally’s love knows no bounds and I’m sure her support has helped Sam get back on his feet so much quicker.

I love working with Essentials because the stories always look so gorgeous on the page. Plus they do fantastic recipes at the back of the mag. This month we interviewed Nicola, who lost a lot of weight after her mum passed away, Julie, who couldn’t read until her daughter started learning to read at school, and Katy, who refused to let an early diagnosis of arthritis hold her back. These women have been through the mill but they are standing tall and smiling and I love them for it. A celebratory story of the human spirit.

If you are reading this slumped over a computer and wondering if you like your job, you should probably stop reading right now. Roz, Joey and Daisy used to have jobs they hated. Jobs involving sitting down at computers. But not anymore. I don’t know about you but I am not the most patient of people. I loathe having to wait around. Whether I’m waiting for an appointment, a friend or just for the husband to hurry up and get to the car in the morning. What does appease me is having something to do whilst I wait. Reading, I love reading and a good story in a magazine or newspaper can keep me occupied to the point where I end up making those who I waited for then wait for me to finish reading!
