I’m really enjoying writing about sperm donation and single women seeking out this wonderful way of making their dreams come true. I’ve had a few articles published on this topic now and this latest one, in Reveal, is a fantastic celebration of women becoming mums despite not having found a man to parent with.

These aren’t necessarily career women who put off having children, but also women who never found the right man, or had health circumstances get in the way of something they always presumed would just happen the old fashioned way. When it didn’t, they stepped up. And now look at their gorgeous babies!

How beautiful are Michala’s kids?! Absolute stunners. This story in today’s Best celebrates a unique family. Michala created her children using a sperm donor and they are all full sibling. The idea of private AI (artificial insemination) has a bit of a shady reputation but Michala is testament to the fact that it can be done with professionalism and a mutual understanding of the rules. She’s lucky to have found a man like Martin who is altruistic, kind and considerate. All great traits for the man who has fathered three of her kids!

Happy World Down’s syndrome Day! Time for my annual love fest – click below to see a collection of the incredible families I’ve written about in the last year. I feel so incredibly fortunate to be able to use my pen (alright, keyboard) to celebrate so many inspiring young people. These are the game-changers, the rule-breakers, the cliche-defiers – while there’s never been more urgency to highlight what Down’s syndrome actually is (and not what medical professionals would STILL have us fear it is) these little legends are going about their legendaryness with aplomb. Just by being who they are, the ripple effect across society says We. Are. Awesome. So while NIPT (noninvasive prenatal testing) looms into view, the Down’s syndrome community are here to say #wouldntchangeathing.

So, so proud of Kathleen! Such an honour to get to write about amazing women every day. Do I have the best job in the world, or what?! Kathleen and her mum Denise invited me into their world and let me champion their lives. Now more than ever, we need to show society that Down’s syndrome is nothing to be feared. Down’s syndrome is to be celebrated. Quick, before NIPT (non-invasive prenatal testing) causes a dramatic decrease in the number of people born with Down’s syndrome. As Kathleen will tell you, her life rocks.

Please buy Best Magazine this week to read all about Kathleen. She’s going places!

The gorgeous Sarah and Dave can teach us all a thing or two about living, while they live in the shadow of death. Dave has been battling worsening cystic fibrosis his entire life and never thought he’d experience love, marriage and family. But Sarah is by his side as his wife and carer and together they make every day special.

A beautiful, poignant love story just in time for Valentine’s Day, out now in Woman.

Support their gofundme campaign for Dave’s bucket list here.

This is the gorgeous family of Ana, Nathaniel, Luca and Jude. In Best magazine this week, Ana explains how her twins, Luca and Jude, have autism. The condition has left the children in two silent worlds, frustrated yet unable to communicate. And so the lovely Ana found ways into their worlds. It’s a poignant story of determination and gentle patience, as Ana learns to understand what autism means for both of the boys and how she can help them help themselves in the overwhelming worlds they find themselves in.

Ana has contributed to a book written by a compilation of mums who have all been through a lot and overcome challenging circumstances. Mumpreneur on Fire can be found here.

I’ve written about twin to twin transfusion syndrome in the past but never have I met a pair of twins who were affected by it to such a degree as this pair of cuties. Danielle shared her story about her incredible identical, but not identical, twins Teddy and Ronnie, in the Sunday People and it really is an astonishing journey those boys have been on. But, they’re both home now and doing brilliantly.

You can read about their journey here and follow the lovely Danielle on Instagram here.

Oh how I wish I was writing about something else when it comes to Sarah – this glorious, hilarious, brave and wonderful woman has been so fantastic and kindly let me into her life at such a difficult time. We’ve grown close and I very much wish life wasn’t so a cruel mistress! Here she is being her gorgeous self in New! this week.

You can support Sarah by buying her lovely book, aimed at children whose parents have had a cancer diagnosis. Available on the Osborne Trust website. Catch her story in New! now.

Extra big story this week – three pages in Best Magazine. Absolutely love all these champs, writing open letters to their future selves. I love this style of writing, it’s so powerful. We have Claire, advising herself on life after her three eldest sons flew the nest… Tracey, discovering what truly matters in life after fighting cancer (and celebrating the news of a new baby on the way – whoop!) and Lou, a divorcee looking forward to new beginnings in 2018.

Thank you all for working with me and here’s to a wonderful new year x

For Emily, it’s not about what the Christmas tree looks like. Christmas is about how it feels, how it smells, how it makes her feel. Partially sighted, Emily was kind enough to describe Christmas from where she is standing, in this week’s Best magazine. She’s a poetic and beautiful soul who went into wonderful detail about all the little things that other people might take for granted and it was a joy to work with her on this.

It’s a little early but… Happy Christmas to Emily!

Check her out in Best this week.
